Veiligheidslek in IE
Er is nieuws over het veiligheidslek in Internet Explorer waarover ik eergisteren rapporteerde.
- Verschillende overheden hebben hun gebruikers opgeroepen om IE te verlaten zolang er geen oplossing is: Argentinië (http://blog.segu-info.com.ar/2010/01/sobre-la-ultima-vulnerabilidad-de.html) geciteerd door http://cert.inteco.es/cert/Noticias_CERT/Consejos_practicos_para_usuarios_sobre_la_ultima?postAction=getLatestInfo.
Daarop zijn overigens verschillende soorten reacties gekomen.
- Andere overheden zijn gematigder: http://www.certa.ssi.gouv.fr/site/CERTA-2010-ALE-001/index.html geeft een concrete technische workaround.
- Sommige bloggers blazen de zaak op en zeggen dat bv. CERTA aanraadt IE te verlaten.
Wat kan je als gebruiker doen?
- Niet panikeren en stemmingmakerij onderscheiden van efficiënte maatregelen. Elk product bevat beveiligingslekken (gedocumenteerde en andere). Ik heb dezer dagen niemand horen oproepen om Acrobat Reader te verwijderen, of Norton security (of Chrome of Firefox, als we eerlijk moeten zijn).
- Zo snel mogelijk upgraden naar de laatse en meest veilige versie (Internet Explorer 8).
- De laatste updates installeren. Als Windows Update niet automatisch wordt uitgevoerd, installeer dan zo snel mogelijk http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=978207.

- Wees voorzichtig op welke links je klikt.
- Ga er niet van uit dat een bericht automatisch afkomstig is van wie gezegd wordt de afzender te zijn.
- Geef de mailadressen van je vrienden niet weg: laat een netwerksite je adresboek niet scannen.
- Ook netwerksites worden nagemaakt. Als je je netwerksite wil bezoeken, tik het adres in of gebruik je favorieten.
- Wees voorzichtig met wie je toevoegt aan je netwerk.
- Wees voorzichtig bij de keuze van de netwerksite(s) waarin je je inschrijft.
- Ga er van uit dat de informatie die je weggeeft, beschikbaar blijft.
- Wees voorzichtig bij het installeren van extra’s.
- Wees voorzichtig bij gebruik van netwerksites op het werk.
- Spreek met je kinderen (en leerlingen/studenten) over netwerksites.
Valse e-card van Hallmark
Er komt een bericht binnen dat zich voordoet als een e-card van Hallmark, een overigens respectabele dienst voor electronische kaarten.
Aleen: het bericht is vals – de link gaat naar een EXE bestand op een of andere (waarschijnlijk gehackte) server.
Wees voorzichtig met e-kaarten. Ga met de muis over de luink, en kijk goed naar welke server die link gaat. Als het een ander server is dan die op de tekst van de link staat, neem het risico niet en druk op DEL.
