Folders hernoemen in Windows Vista

Dat is beschreven in het MSKB artikel Error message in Windows Vista when you try to rename a new subfolder in a shared folder on the network: “The folder does not exist” – http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934160

Renaming folders in Windows Vista

  • To rename a folder in Windows Vista, select it and press F2. Type the new name.
  • There are two issues:
  • Make sure that the containing folder is fully loaded (mind the progress indicated in the address bar). If the folder isn’t fully loaded yet, the focus is lost and you rename another folder. This might cause data loss.
  • Sometimes, you are unable to rename the folder. This is described in the MSKB article: Error message in Windows Vista when you try to rename a new subfolder in a shared folder on the network: “The folder does not exist” – http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934160

The usual malware scanners (virus scanner, Lavasoft, Spybot) couldn’t find anything.

We got rid of it by deleting the TEMP files (including Temporary Internet Files) and after emptying the DLLCACHE. This apparently did the trick.
